Offering hope and healing. In the midst of the pain we are all feeling, what to do…. I felt like I needed to do something to help after this Newtown shooting. I liked this idea and I think it can help bring hope and healing in the midst of our pain. The Olivia Act which was named after one of the children killed in Newtown. The Olivia Act was started by a photographer in TX in memory of Olivia Engel and all who died in the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre. Olivia’s family had family pictures taken a short time before her life was taken on that horrible day. Upon hearing about this, the TX photographer was moved to give away 30 minute family photo sessions.
We go about our daily lives and sometimes we don’t take the time or have the resources to have family photos taken. I asked my Facebook fans to send me an email with a nomantion of a family who they felt had such a deserving story & why they would love for them to get free family photo session.
Here are just some of the nominations ~
"My name is Gayle. I am a preschool teacher at Eagleslanding Christian Academy. I have known the Cameron family for 6 years. I first had their daughter Izzy in my class and Heather was pregnant with Lexie. I have been very blessed by this family time and time again. They would be a great representation of why you are offering this generous gift of memories through pictures. They are full of faith and hope and have touched so many lives . So many people love this family and I hope and pray that you consider this lovely, deserving family for this offer. Thank you for your time. I enjoy your work very much"
"I have a family that I would like to nominate, The Cameron Family.
Little Lexie is just in preschool but since a young age battled issues with a brain tumor and has been through so much in her life. Although she is doing much better now, because her young body and being such a young age still has to undergo periodic checks, treatments, MRI's, lots of blood draws and so much more. Last year just when they thought everything was ok, they found a spot and they had to painfully wait to see if it was harmful. Thank goodness that spot ended up being ok. So far now, Lexie, is doing good, but as as I mentioned still has to go through so many check ups, rechecks, etc. Her sister, Izzy, and her parents, Heather and Chris, all have hearts of gold and have such an amazing testimony of Lexie's journey and their faith. They are a beautiful family...inside and out. They always take time to check on others even when they are going through such extensive hardships with Lexie. I am just in amazement when I watch her outreach of love to everyone. I cannot possibly imagine the heartache they have endured as they've placed their baby into the arms of doctors and nurses time and time again for treatment." ~ " Praise the Lord she has been cancer free for two years. However, the chemotherapy made her lose her hair, and the treatments/lost time at work/medical costs took quite a toll on the family. They are slowly recovering some sort of normalcy in their lives, and Lexie has a full head of long hair again. The mother, Heather, is a coworker of mine, and she has mentioned that she would love to have family pictures made, especially since Lexie has hair again. I would consider it an honor if you would consider them as a recipient for your free session."
