Sweet Engagement Story - Kristia and Ryan
Sweet Couple's Engagement Story
1. How did you find each other? Ryan and I met through his roommate’s girlfriend, who happened to be in the same sorority as me in Athens, GA .
She asked me to come down to south Georgia with her for the weekend so she could visit her boyfriend (now fiancé), and happened
to mention that his roommate was single, so I decided to go with her to see what south
Georgia was all about. So Ryan and Imet blindly through a match-up created by his roommate and my sorority sister.
2. What was your ah ha moment that made you think that this person is the one?
It wasn’t necessarily an “ah ha moment” that made me realize Ryan was the
person that I would marry. It was more the fact that we were both willing to travel 3.5 hours each trip to spend time with
each other (even if it was only for the weekend). I knew Ryan was the one as he continued to show
how much he cared for me and how much he was willing to put forth to our relationship. What had started out as a blind-date,
weekend shenanigan has turned out be the rest of my life and I could not be more thrilled to share every moment together.
3. Something that the other person does that you think is cute, or adorable? If you don't have one list a great quality a
bout them. The compassion and commitment that Ryan shows and gives to me is a quality that has set him apart from every other man I know.
'I couldn’t ask for abetter fiancé and am so thankful that God crossed our paths.'
4. What are your thoughts about your upcoming wedding day? I am beyond excited to marry the love of my life! No matter '
how stressful the planning process may become, the only thing that will matter at the end of the day
is the fact that I get to spend the rest of my life with someone as amazing as Ryan.
5. All the details of how he asked? For Ryan’s birthday, I purchased a Boykin spaniel, lab mix that he adores to this day.
This puppy dog is more like a child to us and she is spoiled rotten, so it was very fitting that she was part of the proposal.
The day Ryan asked me to marry him was completely a surprise, I had absolutely no idea he was even prepared to ask.
He had done some “pre-planning” and ordered our dog (Brooke) a beautiful leather collar with a brass name plate that read,
“Kristia, Will You Marry Me?”
We were eating a left-over lunch in the house and said he was going outside after we finished.
After I cleaned up, I went outside to see where he had gone and saw Ryan and Brooke down by the pond.
I walked over to them and tried to encourage our dog to jump in and finally swim.
(I had no idea about the collar she was wearing at the time, and frankly hadn’t noticed yet).
Ryan called Brooke back over and she sat beside his feet, he asked if I noticed her new collar.
I moved her hair from over it, and read the collar probably 5 times before it sank in what was happening!
When I looked at Ryan, he was getting down on one knee and opening a box containing the most beautiful ring
I have ever laid eyes on. Of course I said yes, and as soon as he stood back up,
Brooke took off running to the pond and started swimming for the very first time!
It was the perfect, most intimate moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life!!
Ryan and Kristia are getting married this September at Twin Oaks Farm Weddings in Pineview Ga.
